Refocus your faith by giving up control - Devotional Day 7

Did you know that you and Jesus have so much in common? Yup. You read that right. Jesus came into this world, fully man, he came humbly as a newborn baby. Just like you. While fully man, he was fully God, filled with authority and the Holy Spirit. As a man, Jesus also endured many trials and many times of sadness, grief, temptation, anger... the difference - his response was always in love. When Jesus was betrayed by his close friend, he still called him "Friend" (Matthew 26:50) When another close friend of him denies him 3 times, Jesus forgives him (John 21:15-20)

There are so much stories of the way Jesus acted emotionally, but his love is his greatest characteristic. How can you respond in love today? I am here to tell you that you don't have to run away from what is bringing you down today. You don't have to feel trapped in your thoughts, defeated in your circumstances, but be FREE. When we learn to rejoice in the things we cannot control, when we learn to depend on our Lord through our trials, instead of trying to fix them, we experience a great peace that comes from him only. You can't escape what God has for you. While God loves you and calls you just as you are, he doesn't want you to stay the same as you've been your entire life. His purpose is to change us and grow us through our trails and battles.

So today I want this to linger in your heart - How can I respond in love today? How can I humble myself enough to exalt him in the midst of my situation? How can I die to my flesh today?

Memory Verse
Romans 5:3-5
But we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because Gods love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Prayer
Lord I thank you so much for your word. I thank you that I can find joy in the middle of my trials and battles. God I pray that you would remind me of your gentle love as I go through my days. I know Lord, that you don't want me to respond in anger, and that I don't have to stay chained to my thoughts. You died for me so that I could experience your love and your peace. Help me to be like you, change my ways, my thoughts and my actions. I want to represent you, and I want to love and forgive the way you do. But I thank you God, that today I can find joy in you. Fill me with your peace and presence today.
