Refocus your faith by giving up control - Devotional Day 3
On yesterdays post I mentioned a bible verse that really set me free. I am going to be sharing this verse and really just breaking it down. I pray that this verse can really help you see through your situations and understand that Gods got you and he's got your back.
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding
There is a second part to this verse that I feel is very important but today lets talk about this one.
TRUST - James 1:6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like the waves of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. I want you to imagine that for second, being tossed, left and right, with no true direction in where it's going. To trust God with all that your life means to be rooted in that faith. To have a firm foundation that he is going to get you out of whatever season you are in, or take you into your new season.
LORD - Have you asked Jesus Christ to be your lord and Saviour? Reaching out to him and saying "Lord I am a sinner and I admit that. I ask for your forgiveness. In this prayer I also acknowledge through my faith that you died on the cross for me and rose again 3 days later. You came to save me and so that I can have all access to God in heaven" Allow him to be the Lord of your life and to fill you with his spirit so that you would be able to find the joy that only he provides.
ALL YOUR HEART - not with a small part of your heart, not with an "okay I'll trust him for this part of my heart only" no. With ALL of your heart and every area of your heart and life.
LEAN NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING - Main takeaway. We always try to understand the happenings in our lives through our own perspective and our own lens. We try so hard to get every answer, and get to the bottom of our "why's". It's in our nature to want to know the meaning behind every circumstance and we quickly become investigators. But we can only get so many answers that won't make sense and sometimes it's honestly best to not know every detail. So God tells us, "don't lean on your own understanding" because HE is the only one that knows why and whats happening because he has the full lens on. Not us. The only thing you can lean on, is him.
Have confidence and patience, and trust him with all your heart. And when you get triggered to control someone or a situation, pray to God.
Prayer
God today I lean on you. Cleanse my thoughts when I get trigged and remind me that you are in control of all things. Today I lean on you. Wholeheartedly. Knowing that you are going to bring me peace and comfort when I allow you to work, when I allow your hand to come over my obstacles. I lean on you today, I trust you with all my heart and I know you got me. In Jesus' Holy name, amen.
Thank you for this Valeria, such a good reminder.
